Santa Fe Midwifery and Women’s Health
Elena Stauss, LM, CPM
Serving families within a 90 minute radius of Santa Fe.
I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Midwifery is my passion. I am a certified professional midwife (CPM) and hold the New Mexico midwifery license (LM). Because I am bilingual (Spanish-English) I am able to serve a broad community of women in New Mexico.
It is my heart-felt belief that every mother should have her baby where she feels most comfortable and secure – in a birthing clinic, at home, or in the hospital. All four of my children were born at home, two in Brazil with an Ob-Gyn (MD), and two in Miami with a midwife.
In addition to delivering babies at home throughout northern New Mexico, I am midwife locum tenens at Dar a Luz Birthing Center in Albuquerque.
Possessed of a gypsy heart, I have made my home in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, San Francisco Bay Area and Northern New Mexico.
Before following my passion and becoming a midwife, I was a teacher of young children for many years. I received my BS in Kinesthesiology at Instituto Nacional de Educación Física in Buenos Aires and an Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential from San Francisco State University.
My husband Steve and I make our home in Santa Fe. Our children have left the nest and we are presently raising two dogs and a cat.
