She has retired from being the Peer Review Coordinator for all New Mexico licensed midwives after 13 years, is currently a preceptor, retired President and board member for the National College of Midwifery in Taos, as well as the NM State Midwifery Advisory Board. I am a Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife serving Albuquerque and surrounding areas. As the owner of Enchanted Moments Birth Services LLC, I offer homebirth and waterbirth, birth and postpartum doula services, placenta encapsulation, and teach Evidence Based Birth® classes. I received my Associate of Science in Midwifery from the Midwives College of Utah in January 2019. My clinical training consisted of a 4-year apprenticeship in IL/WI where I attended over 100 births. I have been attending births as a doula for over 7 years. I was very active in the IL homebirth community working towards midwifery licensure as both a 7-time homebirth mom and midwifery student. It’s my belief that midwifery care should be easily accessible to everyone. I am current in my certification for Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and CPR. I have also completed specialized trainings in breastfeeding, optimal fetal positioning, perinatal education, emergency birth skills, evidence-based healthcare, IV therapy/phlebotomy, advanced comfort measures in labor, and baby wearing. I’m currently taking classes for a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. As a native of Albuquerque, I’m thrilled to be offering respectful, client centered, and evidence-informed care to families in my hometown.
I offer payment plans, pre-payment discounts, and sliding fees for those with a financial need. Accepting some insurance at this time. Call or email for more information or to set up a free consultation.

Natural Birth Midwifery
Connie Koshewa, LM, CPM
505-266-5762 & 505-293-1147
Connie Koshewa, LM, CPM, MPH, is a Certified Professional Midwife with a Masters Degree in Public Health and has been active in the midwifery and public healthcare community for over twenty-five years. Connie trained in midwifery at The Maternity Center in El Paso, Texas in 1980. She then had a busy homebirth practice in Denver, Colorado where she was instrumental in the successful political effort to legalize midwifery in Colorado. She returned to El Paso in 1989 to practice as a staff midwife at Maternidad La Luz/The Birth Center which serves women and families on the US/Mexico border as well as midwifery students from all over the world. Connie has been working with the politics of integrated reimbursement issues for several years, including helping with the efforts to reinstate New Mexico Medicaid coverage for out-of-hospital birth. She has now returned to full time midwifery practice and is honored to once again be able to serve women and families through Natural Birth Midwifery, grateful to be in a homebirth-friendly state.
I have grown over the years to a deep belief in the mother and baby's abiding ability to birth. Empowering the mother and providing the information she needs to make her own choices allows her to truly KNOW she did her birth her way.
Susan is currently retired. Please contact her should you have further questions.
For over thirty years, it has been my privilege to care for thousands of women during pregnancy, birth, and transitions through their reproductive and life cycles.
As a nurse, I worked in Newborn Intensive Care and High High-Risk obstetrics. I received my nursing degree from the University of Albuquerque and the University of New Mexico. I attended Frontier School of Midwifery where I received my Certification in Nurse-Midwifery.
In my current practice, I concentrate on providing compassionate, gentle, evidence-based well women care and primary care. I also provide lactation support and treatment of breastfeeding related conditions.
